Donnell Smith

Donnell R. Smith, age 91 of Hohenwald, passed away at her residence on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

She was born in Hickman County to the late George Oron Rochelle and Jennie Mae (Nicks) Rochelle.

She graduated from Hickman County High School in 1946, and was married to the late Billy Ward Smith for 54 years. She was a member of the Hohenwald Church of Christ for the last 60+ years. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking pies, sewing, making crafts and growing flowers as she was well known for her beautiful yard.

Survivors include three daughters, Darlon Smith of Murfreesboro, Marsha Smith of Nunnelly, and Karen Smith of Bolivar; grandchildren, Kelley Brown, Darren Hudson and Sarah Harmon; great-grandchildren, Nellaina Hudson, Jackson Brown, Charlotte Brown and Riley Collins; and a beloved cat named Katie.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Rochelle and Charles Joseph Rochelle; and four sisters, Elise McCoy, Georgia Spurgeon, Marie Harville and Freida Walker.

Visitation with the family will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12.

A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m. in the Charles L. Nickell Memorial Park Cemetery in Centerville with Bill McDonald officiating.

McDonald Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
