Panthers handle Eagles

The Lewis County High School Panthers (6-0, 2-0) travelled to Eagleville on October 2 for a Region 5AA matchup with the Eagleville Eagles (2-5, 1-1).

The powerful Panther offense was on display in Eagleville, as midway through the opening quarter of play Lincoln Brewer broke loose on a 52-yard touchdown run and Blake Carroll nailed the point after attempt to give the visiting Panthers an early lead at 7-0.

The Panthers would add to their tally on the first play of the second quarter when Ethan McCann bulled his way into the endzone from 2 yards out and Carroll connected on his second successful extra point to stake the Panthers to a 14-0 lead. The Eagles would answer 5 minutes later when quarterback Rylan Randall found Kaden Snitzer on a 5-yard touchdown pass and Dylan Pratts extra point made the score 14-7.

In the waning seconds of the first half, Panther quarterback Bryson James would find Blake Carroll for a 2-yard touchdown pass to pad the score before the break, and Carroll's PAT missed the mark, giving the Panthers a 20-7 halftime lead.

The Panther defense would be lights-out in the second half, allowing only 15 yards of offense to the Eagles in the third and fourth quarters combined. Blake Carroll would find the end-zone twice in the third quarter, first on a 6-yard run and later on a 9-yard run that further padded the big lead the Panthers had developed and the score moving into the fourth quarter was 33-7.

The Panthers would add one last scoring drive to the night in the fourth when Ethan Fransen broke free for a 14-yard touchdown run and Carroll was off target on the extra point to give the Panthers a 39-7 lead, a lead that would hold through regulation.

The win moved the Panther record to 7-0, and 3-0 in Region 5AA.

Blake Carroll led the Panther ground game with 23 carries, 144 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Lincoln Brewer added 143 yards and a touchdown, Ethan McCann 9 carries for 30 yards and a TD, Clydarius Sparkman 10 carries for 20 yards, Ethan Fransen 1 carry for 14 yards and a touchdown, and Sloan Moseley 1 carry for 7 yards. Bryson James was 3 for 4 passing for 58 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Blake Carroll had one attempt that was incomplete. Blake Carroll had 2 receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown, and Jayden Stewart had one reception for 7 yards.

The Panther defense was dominant in the game, limiting the Eagles to 96 yards of offense on the night. Kael Feichtinger had 9 tackles to lead the Panther defense, Ethan McCann added 6 tackles, Clydarius Sparkman had 4 tackles, all for a loss, and Ethan Fransen had 4 tackles and a fumble recovery, Blake Carroll and Lincoln Brewer 3 tackles, Sloan Moseley 3 tackles and one for loss, Maddox Kellogg, Austin Hicks, and Jayden Stewart 3 tackles, Ian Carroll 3 tackles and a quarterback sack, Andrew Ambaoa, Riley Runions, and Eli Hankins 2 tackles, Ayden Dunn, Trezdan Sparkman, and Alex Fall one tackle, and Robert Young a fumble recovery.
