Local Halloween Decor

You can make it yourself

If you have driven down Highway 412, going towards Columbia, then you have probably seen the Halloween decorations in Lisa and David McPherson's front yard.

What you may not know is that their decorations were homemade by Lisa! She worked hard through September and November to get all the materials and ideas.

"I got most of my ideas from looking around on Pinterest and then I add my own twist on them," said Lisa McPherson.

The skeleton couple who are seated on lawn chairs are her newest editions this year, the Mrs. is wearing a purple skirt and festive jewelery while the Mr. wears a top hat as well as a black and orange checked bowtie.

Double, double toil and trouble, the witches are cooking up a glowing green brew. Mrs. McPherson said she and her husband drove all the way to Waverly to get the material for these witches' heads. She used trick-or-treat bowls in the shape of Jack-O-Lanterns for their heads and painted them green while Mr. McPherson engineered the lights.

The ghosts that gather 'round the tree have been there year after year, and are looking as mischievous as ever. Their bodies are made of PVC pipe, their heads made out of rubber dodge balls like you would find at a Dollar General store, and they joined arms by fishing line.

So if you are in need of some holiday decorations but find store prices too expensive, take some inspiration from the McPhersons and make your own!
