Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Hilda Colleen (Willis) Spears, 85, of Hohenwald, passed from this life on to glory on Sunday, October 25, 2020.
Colleen was born on April 9, 1935, to Dol and Arzell (Talley) Willis, in Lewis County. She grew up and married her best friend and the love of her life, Richard "Sunny Boy" Spears. She was an insurance agent for most of her career. Colleen was also a member of the Slippery Church of Christ.
Colleen did life her way. She dressed the way she wanted, always as glamorous as she could be with as much red as possible-red outfit, red lipstick, red nail polish, etc. She spoke her way, always using the biggest words even though she had to explain what some of them meant. She lived her own way, always having fun and never forgetting to laugh, and never caring what someone else thought. Above all, Colleen was a Christian, and on Sunday morning, she earned her reward.
She is survived by her daughters: Vanessa Hook of Charlotte, Sadona Chonce of Hendersonville, and Sherry Cooper of Fairview; sister, Gloria Jones of Hohenwald; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great, great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Jace Spears; brother, Leon Willis; and sister, Dolene Rogers.
Funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, October 27, at 1:00 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel with Josh White officiating. Burial followed in the Downey Cemetery.
