The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers and Panthers were on the road to play the Hickman County Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs on Friday, October 23.
The Lady Panthers entered the game 2-0 on the season and came out of the locker room intense on defense. The Lady Panthers held the Lady Bulldogs to only 2 first quarter points and took an 8-2 lead as four different players scored early.
The Lady Bulldogs increased the pressure on Lewis County in the second quarter and kept the Lady Panthers off the scoreboard, taking a 12-8 lead in at the half.
The Lady Panthers continued to struggle to score against the Lady Bulldogs in the third quarter, as the Lady Panthers had only a Klayr Shepherd basket in a quarter they were outscored by 10 and trailed 24-10 moving into the final six minutes.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Panther reserves 14-0 in the final quarter to take the game 38-10.
Jayden Moore led the Lady Panthers with 3 points, Klayr Shepherd, Gabii Ortiz, and Claire Whitehead each had 2 points, and Addison Osborne had 1 and 4 rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Zoie Chilton and Emily Anderson with 5 each, Karlie Spears, Hannah Brewer, Ruby Suggs, and Emily Copely 4 each, Carol Warren, Kloie Warren, Nola Kate Bentley, Delaney King, and Lynlee Hinson 2 each.
With the loss, the Lady Panther record fell to 2-1 on the season.
The Panthers entered the game 1-1 on the season and, from the tip, controlled the tempo of the game, outscoring the Bulldogs 9-0 in the opening quarter with four different players scoring.
The Panthers added 14 more to their total in the half during the second quarter as Cade Lomax added 8 to the total in the period and the Panthers led 23-8 at the half.
After the half, the Panthers, again, got a bulk of points from Lomax's 7, as they extended the lead to 34-12 after three quarters.
With the game in hand, the Panthers were outscored 12-6 in the fourth, but held on to take a 40-24 win on the road.
Lomax was the high point man for the Panthers with 18 and 4 rebounds, Jaxon Fite and Steele Moseley each had 6 points, Drew Ray 4, Dakota Hull, Maddox Tanner, and Sam Moore 2 each.
Dylan O'Guinn led the Bulldogs with 9, Jax Yablushi 7, Kai Scates 6, and Charlie Blystad 2.
The win gave the Panthers a 2-1 record on the season.
The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers and Panthers, both 2-1 on the young season, traveled to Lawrenceburg to take on the Sacred Heart Lady Patriots and Patriots on Monday, October 26.
In the girls' matchup, the Lady Panthers ran out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter as Jayden Moore had 6 points to spark the early run.
The Lady Patriots found the bottom of the basket in the second, scoring a lone field goal, as Lewis County continued to apply pressure and took a 25-2 lead into the break as five different players scored in the second quarter.
The third quarter was another big quarter for Lewis County as they outscored Sacred Heart 14-0 and held a comfortable 39-2 lead into the fourth. With a running clock in the final six minutes, the Lady Panther reserves outscored the Lady Patriots 4-0 as the Lady Panthers took a 43-2 victory on the road.
Jayden Moore led the Lady Panthers with 12 points and 6 rebounds, Claire Whitehead 6 points and 3 rebounds, Gabii Ortiz 6 points and 4 assists, Addison Osborne 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals, Klayr Shepherd 3 points and 2 rebounds, Stailee Moseley, Jazzy Conner, B.B. Smith, Emery Norris, and Aubrey Hankins 2 points each. Aryn Shepherd added 3 steals.
The lone basket for the Lady Patriots came from Sam Stepp.
The Lady Panthers improved to 3-1 on the season.
In the boys' game, it was Lewis County again sprinting out front to take a 22-2 lead after the first quarter with Cade Lomax (7) and Jaxon Fite (6) leading the way.
Lewis County kept the pressure on as the lineup changed frequently, outscoring the host team 19-0 in the second quarter as six different Panthers scored to take a 41-2 lead at the half.
In a second half with reserves on the floor for the Panthers, Lewis County outscored Sacred Heart 12-5 with Corbyn Harris scoring 7 to take a 53-7 lead into the final quarter.
In the fourth, with a running clock, Lewis County added 10 more to their total to take a 63-10 win on the road.
Cade Lomax led in scoring with 13 and 6 rebounds, Corbyn Harris 7 points and 3 rebounds, Jaxon Fite 6 points and 3 rebounds, Maddox Tanner 6 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists, Drew Ray 5 points and 3 assists, Bo Banks 5 points and 3 steals, Steele Moseley 4 points and 3 steals, Sam Moore 4 points and 3 rebounds, Phenix McDonald, Ryan Tanner, Jalen Smith, Kade Carroll, and Ben Price 2 each, and Julian Jones 1 point.
The Panthers improved to 3-1 on the season.
The Lady Panthers and Panthers welcomed Hampshire to the home court on Tuesday, October 27th with both junior varsity and varsity matchups.
