Joseph Burns

Joseph Cayce Burns, age 89 of Linden, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020.

He was born in Nashville to the late Eldred Cayce Burns and Neva Wade Burns of Hohenwald. He retired from the United States Air Force with a rank of Senior Master Sergeant in 1972 after serving our country for 22 years. He moved to Lobelville after retirement and worked for Kolpak. He represented his district as a school board member for 30 years. His later years were lived in Linden, where he became a member of First Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, traveling, and sharing his life stories. After growing up as an only child, his most proud accomplishment was his large family.

Mr. Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Mattie Robison Burns; children, Wanda Litle of Linden, Barbara Hinson (Timmie) of Hohenwald, Joey Burns (Linda) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Debbie Qualls (Garry) of Linden, and David Burns (Anissa) of Dickson; grandchildren, Allen Litle (Anje), Troy Litle (Nicky), Chris Litle (Krystal), Mandy Pennington (Chuck), T.J. Hinson (Kayla), Justin Burns, Ethan Burns, Aaron Burns, Sabrina Dunkle (Caleb), Dakota Qualls (Taylor), Jordan Burns (Rachel), Carson Burns, and Hannah Henningsen (August); and great grandchildren, Alex and Ande Litle, Brexton Litle, Ashley and Addison Pennington, Lyla and Jax Hinson, Mylie and Bronx Dunkle, Maxx Qualls, and Parker Kate Burns.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, December 2 in the Young Funeral Home chapel in Linden. Burial followed in the Dr. O. A. Kirk Memorial Cemetery.
