'Cops and Kids' have a great night at Walmart

Organizer Adam Barnes will be the first to tell you that there nearly wasn't a Cops and Kids shopping spree this year. "We just didn't have the money, and because of Covid 19, it was nearly impossible to do any fundraising this year". But thanks to a number of generous checks, it did happen at Walmart this past Thursday night where kids of all ages joined with local police and sheriff department officers to tour Walmart and shop for toys and clothing, with the emphasis on warm clothing.

Each child of each family was awarded $100 to buy things and fill their Christmas stockings, and as can be seen by the pictures, there were few disappointments.

The program used to be called "Shop With A Cop," said another organizer Sam Livingston, "but as the shop with a cop program was more national, we decided to localize it by calling it "Cops and Kids".

A great program that benefits our local community, with special thanks going out to a lot of people, not just the cops and volunteers, but also to Walmart.
