"Clean Pocket Change: A Post '90s Drama"

Matthew Rhone, aka Jonathan Rone, a Lewis County native and 1998 graduate of Lewis County High School, recently published a novel. Released last month, the comedy, "Clean Pocket Change: A Post-'90s Drama," portrays a war veteran's comical transition to Pennsylvania after military service. Matthew recommends Clean Pocket Change for the "off the wall" drama and comedy fans, especially with the truth behind most of the content.

This narrative represents short stories that differ in each chapter. Many will enjoy the various "one-liners and the character's audacious conduct, but some may find the characters' naïve mannerisms insensitive. Even though set in the early 2000s, the writing style's inspirations derive from script-writer John Hughes and J. D. Stallinger's "Catcher in the Rye."

Kevin, a venturous soul, yearns for globetrotting amid his settled New England life that isn't so quiet with dramatic neighbors and intriguing locals. Eventually, Kevin joins the Army reserves, where his Army unit deploys after that. However, before traveling abroad, Kevin's company trains for a month in Washington, where he links with Toni (a depressed young woman) during a ten-day pass. The two former Marine buddies reminisce on former times, and like old times, conduct themselves in rowdy behavior, potentially jeopardizing their liberty with the police. The two lead into sitcom-worthy situations, where sometimes, the fact is stranger than fiction. Their endeavors differ each day, covering anything from tall telling dialogue (including an exorcism), unusual contacts, and street-fighting.

Currently, "Clean Pocket Change" isn't available in major book stores. However, most stores can order the novel under a "non-returnable" status. Also, the book is available on Amazon or Xlibris Publishing's website. For more information, contact [email protected]
