Two arrested on drug charges

A routine traffic stop in the City of Hohenwald led to two being arrested and charged with drugs.

On December 30, 2020, City Policeman Kalum Halfacre observed a black Ford Ranger with dark window tint traveling down Roney Street onto Swan Avenue.

When the vehicle was stopped, Patrolman Halfacre approached the vehicle to find William Harley Hickerson as the driver with Christopher Calvert as the passenger. He metered the window tint and found it to be illegal.

Patrolman Halfacre then asked to see Hickerson’s driver’s license, insurance, and registration. He then noticed Hickerson seemed shaky while showing proof of license. The officer also smelled an odor of marijuana while speaking to Calvert.

Dispatch advised Patrolman Halfacre that Hickerson’s license was suspended.

K-9 Officer Clay Colley and Patrolman Robbie Hooks arrived at the scene to assist. Hickerson and Calvert were advised to step out of the vehicle and Hickerson was asked for consent to do a search.

During the search, several baggies of methamphetamine and residue were found along with digital scales, a glass pipe, fake beer can, and a 20 gauge pump shotgun.

Both Hickerson and Calvert were transported to the Lewis County jail and charged with armed dangerous felonies; methamphantamine - manufacture, deliver, sell; and unlawful drug paraphernalia. Hickerson was also charged with driving on revoked/suspended license.
