LCMS Panthers defeat Zion Eagles

The Lewis County Middle School Panthers hosted the Zion Christian Academy Eagles in a boys' game on Thursday, December 17, 2020 for LCMS Coming Home and eighth grade recognition night. No girls game was played for the evening.

Prior to the game, eighth grade Lady Panthers, Panthers, and Cheerleaders were recognized.

Eighth grade cheerleaders honored were Shainah Beasley, daughter of Angie and Jimmy Beasley; Dee Dee Hodges, daughter of David and Simone Hodges; Addie Morgan, daughter of Amy and Justin Davis and Wes and Kristen Morgan; Raegan Murphy, daughter of Tabitha Lancaster; and Liv Renner, daughter of Dustin and Brooke Renner.

Eighth grade Lady Panther basketball players honored were Jayden Moore, daughter of Justine and Michael Moore; and Claire Whitehead, daughter of Melanie Whitehead and Adam Whitehead.

Eighth grade Panther basketball players honored were Julian Jones, son of Chris and Crystal Jones; Steele Moseley, son of Marcus and Lori Moseley; Jaxon Fite, son of Jason and Misty Fite; Ryan Tanner, son or Stephen and Shana Tanner; Cade Lomax, son of Steve and Tracie Lomax; Samuel Moore, son of Allison Moore and Shea Voght; and Corbyn Harris, son of Ashley Harris and Cody Harris.

In the boys' matchup between the Panthers and Eagles, the Panthers came out of the gate on fire, outscoring the Eagles 15-5 in the first 6 minutes led by 8 from Steele Moseley.

The Panthers did not let up in the second, as they poured in 20 more points behind 12 from Cade Lomax to stretch the lead to 35-9 at the half.

The Panthers continued the dominance in the third quarter, as they outscored the Eagles 17-7 in the period and held a commanding 52-7 lead moving into the final 6 minutes of regulation. With a running clock in the final quarter, the Panthers cruised to a 57-9 win.

Cade Lomax led all scorers with 21 points, Steele Moseley had 12, Jaxon Fite 8, Sam Moore 6, Drew Ray 5, and Ryan Tanner 2. The Eagles were led by Collin Kennedy with 8.

The Lady Panthers and Panthers returned to action on Monday, January 4, 2021 at home against the Hickman County Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs.
