Zelma Shook

Zelma Lou Shook, age 88 of New Philadelphia, Ohio and sister of Ramona, Marsha and Vera Runions of Hohenwald, died peacefully at her home on January 9, 2021.

Born in Guernsey County on March 24, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Ernest Green Blackwell and Ados Lee (Bates) Blackwell.

On May 6, 1953, Zelma married the love of her life, the late Samuel Shook, II, and celebrated 67 years of marriage prior to his passing last month.

Zelma was well known throughout the community for her crocheted crafts and writing skills. She was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Randall (Diane) Shook, Pamela (Paul) Wallace and Benjamin (Jody) Shook, all of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Jennie (Gill) Msangi of Canton, Ohio, and Samuel (Jacki) Shook III of New Philadelphia, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Ramona (T.R.) Runions, Marsha Runions, and Vera (Russell) Runions, all of Hohenwald; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews complete the family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Zelma was preceded in passing by her grandson, five brothers, two sisters, and her brother-in-law, Tom Runions.

A service celebrating Zelma's life will beginning at 2 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
