Single vehicle accident claims life

Series: Car Accident | Story 19

A single vehicle accident was dispatched around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, January 31 bringing emergency responders from both Lewis and Maury Counties. A Ford F-350 pick-up was found just off Highway 412 East on Overhead Bridge Road.

The driver, Andrew Kyle Anderson, 32, of Maury County died in the crash, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Sergeant Bradley Smith. Two passengers in the vehicle were transported by Maury Regional Emergency Medical ambulance for treatment of their injuries.

Sgt. Smith said the accident started about 100 yards from where the pickup came to rest, citing evidence from the scene. The Ford was travelling east and tire tracks began off the shoulder of Hwy. 412 just east of the Ridgetop Road intersection. The vehicle hit some highway marker signs, yawed sideways onto Overhead Bridge Road, then began to roll, striking a large tree. The pickup landed upright across the roadway.

Smith stated that the female passenger likely was ejected through the rear window upon impact with the tree. She was found by First Responders approximately 15 feet from the roadway.

Sgt. Smith concluded that speed was a contributing factor in the crash. Also, none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts which was a contributing factor in their injuries.

Lewis County Fire and Rescue and Lewis County Sheriff Deputies were assisted by Maury County Fire.

Lewis County Coroner Dr. Lori Stewart and Medical Examiner Dr. Joey Hensley were also called to the scene.
