The Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Hohenwald is accepting applications for the position of Coordinator of Student Services/Financial Aid Officer/Counselor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited college or university is required, with a master’s degree preferred.
• Three (3) years experience in chosen degree field required; Counselor/Financial Aid Officer experience preferred.
• Experience with student Banner preferred.
• Must be willing to participate in professional development activities as needed to establish and maintain a current knowledge of student and financial aid regulations.
• Strong human relations/counseling skills, team player, self-starter, excellent record keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to interpret complex government regulations; to communicate effectively in written and spoken English; to relate to a diverse faculty, staff, and student population; to deal tactfully with the public; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; and to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly.
GENERAL DUTIES:
I. Develop and/or be responsible for the following:
A. Maintenance of records, systems, reports and forms for:
1. Federal and State Financial Aid Programs
2. Veterans Administration
3. Banner System
4. Vocational Rehabilitation and/or ADA Services
B. Provide personal, group, and individual counseling and guidance.
C. Provide referral service for applicants and students to other agencies to meet individual, educational, emotional and physical needs, including disability services.
D. Contact business and industry to provide for recruitment for supplementary programs, and participate in school, community, business, industry, and professional relationship endeavors.
E. Contact and communicate with guidance counselors, principals, superintendents, teachers and students in high school programs throughout the area served by the school in conjunction with Career Success Coach; also with the Tennessee Employment Security, Vocational Rehabilitation, SNAP, Veterans, WIOA, TAA, and other agencies who direct prospective students to the school.
F. Conduct research studies as assigned.
G. Perform other duties as directed by the President.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications, experience, education and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
