Thomas Helentjaris

Thomas Floyd Helentjaris, age 72, a resident of Hohenwald, passed away Tuesday, March 2 at his home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 13, at Blondy Church of God in Hohenwald from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. A memorial service will be conducted immediately following visitation with Jeff Gandy, John Powers and Ken Crowell officiating. Heritage Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Born May 29, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leo and Henrietta White

Helentjaris was married to Brenda Talley Helentjaris. He received his BS in Education from Wright State University and a Masters Degree from the University of St. Francis. He impacted numerous lives as a teacher before becoming an administrator. Anyone who knew him knows that he was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Thomas "TC" Helentjaris of Celina, Ohio and Nick (Melissa) Helentjaris of Charlottesville, Virginia; his bonus children, Jamie (Tammy) Clifton and Amy (Shannon) Banks, both of Hohenwald and Starr (David Riley) Smith of Jackson; brother, Dave (Linda) Helentjaris of Celina, Ohio; sister, Linda Creiglow of Tompkinsville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Theodora, Katie, Evan, Ciara, Sam, Saige, Chilton, Ty, Cade and Bo; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Chris Helentjaris and brother-in-law, Charlie Creiglow.
