The Lewis County High School Lady Panthers basketball played in the first round of the District 11AA Tournament on Tuesday, February 9 when they travelled to Fairview to take on the Fairview Lady Yellow Jackets.
The Lady Panthers dropped the two regular season meetings with Fairview and needed a win to keep their season alive. The Lady Panthers struggled to get anything going on offense early but did limit opportunities for the Lady Yellow Jackets as Keira Halbrooks accounted for all 4 Lewis County points in the first quarter and the Lady Panthers trailed 12-4 after the first eight minutes of action. It was the second quarter that saw the Lady Yellow Jackets turn on the pressure on the visitors as they held the Lady Panthers scoreless in the period and pulled away to a 31-4 halftime lead.
With a comfortable lead, the Lady Yellow Jackets continued to build on the differential as they outscored Lewis County 12-10, with Jayden Hinson scoring 6 in the third and the Lady Panthers were down 43-14 moving on to the fourth quarter. The Lady Panthers would add 11 more to their total in the fourth before dropping the final 54-25, ending their 2020-21 season in the first round of the District 11 Tournament.
Jayden Hinson led the Lady Panthers on the night with 11, Serenity Warman added 6, Keira Halbrooks 4, Raegan Webb and Emily Bratcher each had 2. The Lady Panthers concluded their 2020-21 season with a 1-19 record, going 0-15 against District 11AA opponents.
