Middle School hosts Lobelville

The Lewis County Middle School Lady Panthers softball team hosted the Lobelville Lady Hornets on Thursday, March 4th at Memorial Park.

Lewis County sent Brailey Carroll to the mound to start and, following a leadoff strikeout, the visitors pieced together a single and a walk and were able to plate both runners in the inning to take an early 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the first, Taya Tiller led off with a walk and stole second and Kabry Adkins was hit by a pitch when Makaela Dodson laced a double to center to score a run. C.J. Tanner lined a 2-run double following Dodson. Addie Osborne reached on an error, followed by a walk to Brailey Carroll and Stailee Moseley to load the bases for Anna Burney who also drew a run scoring walk. Tiller batted for the second time in the first and was hit by a pitch to plate another runner, followed by run-scoring walks to Adkins, Dodson, Tanner, and Kinlee Keltner before a 2-run single by Osborne and an RBI single to Burney before the inning finally ended and the Lady Panthers had taken a 13-2 lead in the first.

Carroll would work around a walk with 3 strikeouts in a scoreless Lobelville half of the second and the Lady Panthers came up in the bottom half with an 11-run lead. Back-to-back walks in the inning following a strikeout brought Dodson to the plate with 2 on and one out and she delivered a 2-run double to left, followed by a single by Tanner and an RBI single by Keltner. Osborne delivered a single to load the bases for Carroll, who drew a walk after a runner was caught stealing to again load the bases. Stailee Moseley would drive in 2 more on a single before a strikeout ended the Lady Panther inning and Lewis County led 18-2 moving into the third. Brailey Carroll would work a scoreless third to end the game.

Makaela Dodson had 2 hits, 4 RBI, and scored 3 runs, C.J. Tanner had 2 hits, 3 RBI and a run scored, Addison Osborne had 2 hits, 2 RBI, and 3 runs, Kinlee Keltner had a hit, 2 RBI, and 2 runs, Brailey Carroll a hit and 2 RBI, Stailee Moseley a hit, a run, and 2 RBI, Taya Tiller 3 runs and an RBI, Kabry Adkins 3 runs and an RBI, and Anna Burney drove in a run. Brailey Carroll worked 3 inings on the mound, allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits while striking out 7 and walking 2. The win evened the Lady Panther record at 1-1.
