Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
The Lewis County Public Library and Archives expansion project received a big boost recently when Friends of the Library received a $20,000 donation from Hohenwald residents Kenneth and Naomi Sublett. The Subletts made the contribution to the "Building for the Future – Preserving the Past" campaign in honor of Kenneth Sublett's mother, Georgia Greene Sublett, who served as Lewis County's first public librarian. In making the donation, the Subletts stated "We hope our gift will encourage others in the community to donate to this campaign."
This is the largest gift the library has received to date and is a critical step in reaching the library's fundraising goal of $1M. "While the library was built in 1972, our services and usage of the library has increased by 220%, but the footprint and electrical capacity has not," said Library Director Crystal Nash. "We're excited and grateful that the Sublett Family has shown strong support for the community we serve by demonstrating their willingness to make a major financial investment in the future of the library."
