Well it is another beautiful morning here in our little valley. I went out on the porch to feed the cats but nobody came to meet me, I was a little surprised because they are always waiting for breakfast. I could see all three of them but they were just sitting very quietly and when I looked around, I saw why. There is a flower bed next to the porch and the flowers were all laying flat - somebody had been playing in the flower bed. They slowly came to eat, I never said a word to them and no pats on their heads. But the flowers will come back. Then I sat down in my rocking chair and had my cup of coffee and I looked at the beautiful dogwood trees flowering out and I thought about how blessed we all are. I know outside our little comfort zone there is trouble everywhere. I try not to watch the news, seems like there have been more shootings in the last few days than ever before, and I wonder what that is all about?
Well spring is here and things are blooming out and we can see new life everywhere. I cooked a big pot of cabbage and fried up a big skillet of sweet potatoes and I took the peeling scraps down to the creek bank for the critters. Later in the day I saw squirrels all enjoying those scraps. I was thinking about how blessed we all are, I don’t think any of us are going hungry, but out there in this world there are a lot of hungry people and it is sad. Some people could help themselves, but some can’t. We can’t help everyone, but we can pray for them.
I am glad to hear we are growing here with some new businesses. I just hope we can still keep our closeness and togetherness in our community even with the new progress. We have good people that really care for one another. There was a young man working near the side of the road, he was working hard, a person in a car passed by and waved at him. A little later that same person in the car came back and gave him a box of food. Do you think there are a few angels around that we don’t know about? This happened right here in our town.
Well back to a quiet and beautiful morning, the trees are coming out, a few flowers are still laying on the ground and the cats are now sitting at my feet. I didn’t hear the old John Deere tractor but I know the neighbor is getting everything ready, and he will start cutting hay before long. I look forward to seeing those big round bales of hay stacked down by the creek. A farmer’s work is never done.
Well I’m not going to worry about tomorrow, I’m just going to enjoy one day at a time. God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God Bless .
