Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
The Lewis County Elks Lodge hosted a 5k Color Walk/Run to support Autism and special needs friends on Saturday, May 1, where $8,000 was raised to benefit special education.
With the money donated, the Lodge will not only be able to fulfill purchasing everything on the wish lists, but will also be able to cover needs that may arise in the upcoming school year.
"We are honored to be able to support the students' needs and teachers' wish lists," said Elks Lodge Chairman of Activities, Brandy Bennett, "We look forward to making this an annual event."
The event was made possible by several members of the Elks Lodge such as Lisa Tibbs, Kelli and Tony McGee, as well as many members of our community.
SCATS provided free transportation to all who participated, and assisted with any handicap needs. 2Cs Portable Toilets provided the Lodge with three units free of charge, and DJ Pineapple Baber provided free entertainment while the almost 150 race participants enjoyed a meal and refreshments at the Lodge once they completed the run.
A huge blow up slide and house, as well as face painting and a quiet coloring area were also available for the many children who participated.
"We'd like to say thank you to all of Lewis County for supporting this event that is so close to the hearts of many," said Bennett.
