Summer Reading Program kicks off

Lewis County Public Library and Archives annual Summer Reading Program "Tails and Tales: Animal Adventures in Hohenwald" kicked off with a "tail-filled" tale brought to life! Old MacDonald's Farm jumped off the pages at Memorial Park with the help of UT Extension-Lewis County, R&R Farms, Harris Farms, Kerri Ellison Anthony, High Forest Humane Society, the Pilot Club of Hohenwald, City of Hohenwald, and Friends of the Lewis County Library, with support from a Dollar General Literacy Grant.

Participants of all ages became farm hands for the day meeting cows, sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rescue dogs, a horse, and an owl as they walked through the pages of Old MacDonald Had a Farm. Each animal "page" taught the young farm hands about basic care of the animals, their farm benefits, and had a take home treat for the kids. Michelle Jones, one of the mothers attending, said "We had such a great time!!"

The library's next family event is Animalogy with wildlife specialist Bob Tarter on Friday, June 11 at 10 a.m.
