A 2016 Kia Soul came to a sudden stop when it left the roadway and struck a tree while travelling east on South Ridge Road in the Lewis State Forest. Responders found the driver, Mia Ortiz, 18, out of the vehicle with unspecified injuries. A friend that stopped at the scene stated that Ortiz had left her South Ridge Road residence Monday, June 7, around 10 a.m. going to work. Lewis County Sheriff Deputies, Lewis County Fire and Rescue, and Maury Regional Emergency Medical personnel were dispatched. Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Brandon Dixon worked the accident. Taylor's Wrecker Service was called to tow the vehicle. Ortiz was transported to Maury Regional for observation.
