Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
It would appear summer is here with the temperatures rising even into the low nineties one or two days and nights not getting much below seventy and not much rain except scattered showers around the area. Children and those young at heart are enjoying the creeks and other water sources around the area and many are taking vacations and going to the beaches and other places where there is water and many other activities to enjoy. We pray for their safety in travels and to arrive home safe.

If you have vacation plans in your future be sure that you don’t forget to be safe as you travel and plan for all who go with you to have a safe and wonderful time. Children must be protected from the sun if exposed for long periods of time and also even around the house. Be safe with water, I read the other day where a child was burned by water from a hose that had been laying in the sun. Sometimes we don’t realize how hot the water gets in the hose, so always let it run for a few minutes or so to be sure that the water will not burn anyone or your flowers or garden. Also if traveling remember to plan to include God in your activities and know where you can go to church or meet with a group that is having service.
The girls and I had special visitors on Sunday, George and Nettie Cole from Newbern, Tennessee and David and Jean Brown from Memphis came by for a visit. These are two of my dad’s cousins - they are my grandmother, Carrie Thomason Clayton’s, nieces. George is going to begin a round of chemo for some cancer and we pray for his recovery and health during the coming days.
Many are still practicing ball and having tournaments so they need plenty of water or something to cool them off and replenish body fluids lost during activity when it is really hot. We wish for all those playing all stars a safe and happy summer and that they enjoy what they are doing and remember that winning is not all that it is about but having fun and meeting new friends.
Prayers that your week will be peaceful and happy and that you will be blessed with health and remember those who are shut in and visit if you have a chance or call and send a card, it will brighten their day.
