Head-on collision on Swan Avenue Friday

Series: Car Accident | Story 31

Emergency responders converged on the scene of a two vehicle head-on accident on Swan Avenue Friday, July 2, about 9:30 p.m. that occurred in front of the Lewis County Sheriff Department.

Hohenwald Fire and Rescue extricated the driver of a Monte Carlo from Henderson County by removing the driver side door. The unidentified male was treated and transported to the helipad on West Main Street for transport to Nashville by air ambulance for further treatment.

The second vehicle was a Ford Explorer driven by Hayden Bass of Hohenwald. He and his passenger, both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, were taken by private vehicle to Maury Regional Medical Center for observation and treatment.

Hohenwald Police Department Officer Travis Koch was in charge of the scene. Sgt. Michael Dunn, noting collision marks on the roadway, stated the Explorer, travelling east, was veering off the roadway in an attempt to avoid contact as the Monte Carlo approached crossing the center line.

Both vehicles incurred severe damage and were removed by Taylor's Wrecker Service. According to Chief of Police Kip Kelsey, the accident is still under investigation.
