Clark wins gold
Three teenagers, Zoie Clark, Spencer Clark and Daniel Burcham, from Lewis County and their families traveled to Marengo, Ohio, last week to compete in the SCTP National Championship against teens from all around the country.
Zoie Clark surprised herself by winning gold during a game of Annie Oakley where 30 girls, of all ages, were lined up on the twenty-seven yard line and tried their best to be the last girl standing. If the first person shoots the target, then she is safe; but if she misses it and the second girl hits the target, then the first girl is out. If both the first and second girl miss but the third hits the target, then the first two are out and so on. Zoie managed to be the last girl standing and won a belt buckle and a gun as her reward.
Zoie also placed first in Doubles Trap with a score of 172 out of 200. She placed twelfth in ladies senior/jr. varsity Handicap Trap with a score of 155, eighth in Trap with a score of 190, and eighteenth with a score of 178 in American Skeet.
Burcham beat 200 of his fellow competitors with a score of 179 in men's senior/varsity trap. He shot 146 in men's senior/varsity Handicap Trap, 159 in Doubles Trap, and 151 in American Skeet.
Spencer Clark placed ninety-seventh among 284 competitors in men's intermediate/entry level trap with a score of 171 out of 200. He shot 120 in Doubles Trap, and 156 in American Skeet.
Together, the three athletes shot more than 2,000 rounds in under a week in an effort to make themselves and Lewis County proud.
