Accident left 1,100 MLEC members without power

On Friday, August 6, 2021, a semi-truck pulling a log trailer attempted to turn onto Swiss Colony Road from Hwy 20 when the driver took the turn too sharp and hung a pole, knocking it down.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. and left 1,100 MLEC members on Hwy 20 and south of Main Street without electricity until 6:00 that evening when power was restored, according to MLEC District Manager Jason Graves.

"The job was more difficult due to the volume of traffic during this time of day," said Graves. "Our crews had to assist school buses and tractor trailers under low hanging phone and cable wires while trying to replace the electric pole."

THP and the Lewis County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident and assisted in directing traffic.
