Well it is another quiet morning here in our little valley. There is a nice breeze blowing across the front porch, everything is fresh and clean from the good rain that we had yesterday and last night. It is getting closer and closer to fall of the year and I am looking forward to it. I have also been wondering what kind of winter we will have. I can’t ever remember having so many spiders. We have them everywhere outside and even after we spray for them, they come right back.
Back in the good old days, our papaws would go by the signs, we always had a Farmers Almanac, I can remember going to mammies and papaws house and he kept a Farmers Almanac hanging on the wall by the kitchen table. You could ask him about the weather or about planting or most anything and he would get down that old Farmers Almanac and most of the time everything it said was right. He said most critters knew more than us folks did. I wondering if the spiders are tying to tell us something?
It has been a long summer but a good one. It was hot some days but we had our air conditioner going so that made it easier. What would we do without air conditioners nowadays? I canned vegetable soup again yesterday and I have had tomatoes and a few bell and banana peppers given to me so I am going to can some of them also. I don’t like to see anything go to waste. When I was growing up, we canned almost everything we ate. I think that is why we are as healthy as we are in old age. I thank the good Lord for my good health.
We are still hearing a lot about the viruses and new ones, don’t know where they are all coming from, maybe God is trying to get our attention, only He knows. We still wear our mask when we have to go out. We try to be as careful as we can, we don’t go shopping or eating out or visiting. Now I send more cards and make phone calls to stay in touch. I was thinking how much I have gotten done in my house since we’ve been staying home and it is amazing how much money we have saved just on gas. Now before I go to the grocery store I make a list and I save a little money by doing that because I don’t forget anything and have to run back to the store to get what I might have forgotten.
Well I have got a lot on my list to do today and I probably won’t get it all done but I love to stay busy. At the end of the day I can look and see all that I got done and then after supper it’s to my chair and most of the time I am quilting or sewing something. You know I am taking one day at a time and I’m not going to worry about tomorrow, God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God bless.
