Larry Grimes

September 19, 1941 - September 15, 2021

Larry Edward Grimes, 79, of Hohenwald, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at his home. He was born on September 19, 1941, to Lemuel Edward Grimes and Carmie Nell Graves Grimes, here in Hohenwald.

His late father, Pastor Lemuel Edward Grimes, baptized his son, Larry, at the age of 13. His late mother, Carmie Grimes, regularly played a beautiful musical piano at Riverview Baptist Temple in Michigan. Brother Larry Grimes was a Baptist teacher for 27 years for Bible Sign Language class through Michigan and Tennessee. He sent Bible tracts out everywhere throughout the years. He worked for fourteen different companies over his 49 year career, ending with computer work in Michigan.

He is survived by all cousins, Mac McLemore, Helen Brewer, Wayne (Kay) Tatum, Marsha Johnston, Mike Tatum, Lisa Carroll, Tony Grimes, special friends Bobby and Sue Sharp and Randy and Tracy Hankins, and also a host of friends in the community and church.

His parents preceded him in death.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, September 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the Graves Cemetery with Bert Spann officiating. Visitation with the family was held from 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel.
