Panthers defeat Adamsville 34-7

The Lewis County High School Panthers football team hosted the Adamsville High School Cardinals at Bobby W. Sharp Stadium on Friday night, October 1st in Region 6 2A action.

The two teams exchanged possessions early on in the first quarter of the game before the Panthers dealt the first scoring drive of the game when, with five minutes to play in the opening quarter, Lincoln Brewer broke to the end zone on a 9-yard touchdown run and Blake Carroll added the point after to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead.

The Panthers would add to their lead just seconds into the second quarter as Dyer Barnes hauled in a 24-yard touchdown pass from Bryson McDonald. Carroll would miss on the PAT and the Panthers held a 13-0 lead.

The Panthers would regain possession and drive against the Cardinals again. Kael Feichtinger would cap off the drive with a 2-yard lunge into the endzone and he would convert on the 2-point run to make it a 21-0 game.

The Panthers would add one late score in the first half. Bryson McDonald would connect on his second touchdown strike with under :20 seconds to play before halftime, this time a 1-yard pass to Jaydon Stewart. Blake Carroll's PAT made the halftime score Lewis County 28 Adamsville 0.

The Panthers would strike fast in the third quarter as Blake Carroll finished off a drive with a 5-yard touchdown run, but the point after would fail and the Panthers held a 34-0 lead.

In the final two-minutes of the third quarter the Cardinals would finally find their way to the end zone on a 1-yard Ty Case run. Leonard Phegley added the point after to make the score 34-7, which would hold until the final as the Panthers improved their record to 6-1 on the season.

Twelve Panthers combined to rush for 307 yards on the night. Blake Carroll had 11 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown, Lincoln Brewer had 76 yards on 8 carries and a touchdown, Ayden Dunn had 53 yards on 7 carries, Kael Feichtinger 5 carries for 30 yards and a touchdown, Ethan Ray 2 carries for 13 yards, Brady Johns 3 carries for 12 yards, Kai Bosque 2 carries for 11 yards, Nataniel Caamal 2 carries for 10 yards, Tim Brown 1 carry for 5 yards, Bryson McDonald 1 carry for 2 yards, Malachi Bruce 4 carries for 1 yard, and Chaz Sparkman 1 yard on 1 carry. Bryson McDonald was 6 for 8 passing for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns and Malachi Bruce was 1 for 2 for 12 yards. Dyer Barnes had 4 receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown, James Azcarate 1 reception for 12 yards, Bentley Kelsey 1 reception for 2 yards, and Jaydon Stewart 1 reception for 1 yard and a touchdown.

The Panther defense held the Cardinals to under 200 yards of total offense. Kael Feichtinger had 10 tackles on the night, Lane Barnes had 7 tackles, Jaydon Stewart and Chaz Sparkman each had 6 tackles and a tackle for loss, Dominic Seiber 5 tackles, Lincoln Brewer had 5 tackles and a sack, Eli Carroll had 4 tackles, Maddox Kellogg and Ethan Ray 3 tackles each, Zander Frierson 2 tackles with one for a loss, Dyer Barnes, Ayden Dunn, Hunter Smith, and Cole Farr 2 tackles each, and Kadin Shephard, Bentley Kelsey, James Azcarate, Trezdan Sparkman, and Andrew Willis each had 1 tackle.

The Panthers reach the bye week with a 6-1 record, 3-0 in regional play, and return to action on October 15th when they travel to Scotts Hill.
