Celebrate "NFL" week at the library Oct 19 - 23

National Friends of the Library dedicates the third week of October each year to promote Friends groups across the country for their support of local libraries. County Mayor Jonah Keltner and City Mayor Danny McKnight have formally proclaimed October 17 through October 23 as Friends of the Library week in Hohenwald. Friends of the Lewis County Public Library has planned special events and activities for each day of "NFL" Week to promote the role of Friends, thank library patrons and supporters, and raise funds for the library expansion project. Each day visitors to the library may enter for a free prize drawing at the end of the week. There will also be incentive awards for various levels of donations made to the expansion project from window decals and digital tire gauges, to journals and umbrellas. Residents are invited to visit the library for any and all of these specially themed days:

Tuesday, October 19 - "Pamper Yourself Day" Join us from 10:30am - 1:00pm at our mini beauty salon with free samples, purchases, and orders of beauty products from Julie Gilkey, beauty consultant. Proceeds from sales will go toward the library expansion project.

Wednesday, October 20 - "Legislative Appreciation Day" County Commissioners, City Councilmen, and other city, county, and state leaders will be invited for a private luncheon and a guided tour of the library, including a detailed presentation of our plans for the library expansion project.

Thursday, October 21 - "Musical Storytelling for Grownups" Join us at 5:00pm in the meeting room for an entertaining show by Rainbird and JC. This interactive storytelling for adults has the audience listening to beautiful original music and interacting with the performance for a bit of romance, fun, and intrigue.

Friday, October 22 - "Love our Library Day" Join us from 10:00am - 4:00pm for free snacks and drinks in the library meeting room to see our old-fashioned pledge drive "telethon" to enjoy music and good times at the library.

Saturday, October 23 - "FRIENDS and Family Day" at the library from 10:00am to 3:00pm will be an outdoor carnival with games, music, face painting, and concessions to celebrate Friends of the Library Week. The drawing for all the many prizes will be at 3:00pm, winners do not need to be present to win.
