Tips for staying safe this Halloween

While Halloween is all about having fun with family and friends, it is important to keep safety in mind as well. So here are a few tips and practices to keep in mind on this Halloween:

• According to the National Sex Offender Registry, there are 31 records within a three mile radius of downtown Hohenwald. Parents can check the registry at http://www.NCSBI.gov when planning your child’s trick-or-treat route.

• Make sure to watch out for kids in dark costumes when driving this weekend.

• If parents are not accompanying their kids, know the names of the children they will be with.

• Establish a planned route with your children and a return time

• Discuss with your young ones to only stop at well-lit houses and not to enter into stranger’s homes.

• Make sure that there’s an older child supervising a group of younger children.

• Talk with your children about leaving no one behind and to stay in a group.
