Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Christmas in Hohenwald is finally here! Mark your calendars for all the special events and fun activities in which you and your family can participate, right here in our own wonderful town.
It kicks off with the Reindeer Games Christmas Parade on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. right through downtown Hohenwald.
Then a Treasure Hunt will be held on Friday, December 3 from 5:00 to 8:00 at night. The treasure hunt is sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association. Each participating store will have a flyer with instructions on how to proceed with the treasure hunt. Each store will have a unique item hidden inside their store. You are to find that item, snap a pic of it and proceed to your next stop. After you have visited all the stores, please show the attendant at your last stop all your pictures to verify. Then there will be a form for you to fill out with your name and phone number. Participating businesses include The Shop, Hohenwald Flowers, This and That Gift Shop, Hair Etc. (5-7 p.m.), Elephant Discovery Center, Promise Candles, Rock House Coffee Co., and TLC Hair Salon.
The City of Hohenwald will also be hosting a scavenger hunt. Clues will be put on the City's Facebook page beginning on the third of December. There will be weekly winners announced.
But don't worry, the fun will continue! The ice skating rink is back this year, made possible by Hope Hohenwald. The ice skating rink will be open Friday and Saturday, December 3rd, 4th, and 10th and 11th. All who come can skate for free courtesy of Citizens Bank! Train rides will also be available for free. All aboard the Lewis & Clarke Express and the Wonderland Express! Train rides are sponsored by Lewis and Clarke's and Peoples Bank.
On the same days there will be a kids train and a kids ornament making event in the Community Building at Memorial Park. Kids can come and make their very own Christmas Ornaments with Peoples Bank elves and ride the kids train right after their crafting.
Kids can take pictures with Santa Claus on December 4th, 5th, 10th and 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Community Building in Memorial Park. The first picture is free, courtesy of Hans and Brittany Schwendimann's sponsorship! Any additional pictures will be $3.00 each. There will also be vendors inside the Community Building, offering all kinds of Christmas goods!
On the last day, December 11th, Christmas in Hohenwald will go out with a bang... literally. First get involved in Jingle Jeeps! This is an event where Jeep and side-by-side owners can festively dress up their vehicles and parade through town for all to see. Participants will meet at The Lot at 6:00 before driving around town. There will be prizes and giveaways to the best dressed Jeep and Side-by-Side. Participants are encouraged to donate as all proceeds go to Hope Hohenwald so that every kid can have a Merry Christmas. For more info or sign up, call 931-628-1079. Shortly after the Jingle Jeeps parade around, a holiday fireworks show will be held around 9:00 in the evening.
Throughout the month of December the Christmas lights in Memorial Park can be enjoyed as they are sponsored by 412 Metals and Building Supply. The lights this year will feature a new addition, a firefighter badge to honor the late Lt. Darin Pasold. Pasold loved to be a part of Christmas in Hohenwald and his presence will be greatly missed by all.
The Hohenwald Police Department will also be having a Blue Christmas where they provide meals and gift baskets for 70 senior citizens by partnering with CB&S Bank.
Other sponsors of Christmas in Hohenwald include H&R Ace Hardware, Darrin's C Mart and many more still continue to sign up.
