One day at a time

Series: One day at a time | Story 33

Well it is a cool and foggy morning here in our little valley. It is not cold like it should be on the days right after Christmas but a little heat feels good. I don’t have a big fire going in the old wood heating stove, just a little heat to take the chill out. I have my cup of hot coffee, and the cats have had their breakfast. They really enjoy their bowl of warm milk and of course I always pet them and talk to them.

Christmas is over and some folks are happy it is and some folks are sad, but we had a wonderful Christmas. All the kids were here and I enjoyed them and especially the great-grandbabies. Two of them are three, one is five and one is seven. Christmas day was warm enough that we could sit out on the front porch, so me and the babies got to swing and sing. We sung little songs that we used to sing when their mommies were their age. It brought back good memories and now we have made more, good memories that is what it is all about. We also sang a special song to Jesus. I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and made some special memories. Jesus has blessed us all.

This week it is supposed to be warm and maybe rain and storms before winter really sets in. After I get my Christmas decorations all down and put away and get things back in order and all cleaned, then I will start back with my sewing. I have gotten a quilt top finished, I will get it put together and start quilting. I hope we will have a little snow. The wood is stacked on the back porch and the old wood heating stove is ready. I have got homemade soup canned and ready to be opened up and heated up on the old wood heating stove.

You know I was thinking how this year has been bad. We have had a lot of things happen, especially the tornadoes and the loss because of them, We have been through a lot with covid and the loss because of it, and the other things we been through, but I believe we are all stronger and we have all gotten closer to God. When bad things happen, seems we snuggle a little closer to Him. I know I do and I pray more than ever, maybe that is what He is trying to tell us - that we need to be closer to Him.

I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God still has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel. Have a blessed New Year.

God Bless.
