Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative is seeking qualified individuals for the following positions in our Houston County, Tennessee office.

Meter Technician:

Responsibilities include setting and removing meters, disconnecting meters for nonpayment, collecting delinquent accounts, assisting line crews in the field by flagging, pulling wire, doing ground work, etc. and performing light maintenance of buildings and grounds. Customer service and outdoor environment working experience required. Experience in handling delinquent accounts and dealing with public for a utility helpful.

Journey or High Step Apprentice Lineworker

Applicants must possess a minimum of three years of experience in the electric utility business and have experience in climbing poles, operating digger, bucket trucks, line construction and maintenance, and system feeders. Applicants must be able to safely handle primary and secondary voltages using protective equipment. Completion of a certified apprenticeship program is required of journey lineworker. High Step apprentices must be able to pull standby within six months and be enrolled or have been enrolled in qualified apprentice program.

Applicants for both positions must reside (or be willing to relocate) within Houston County or the MLEC service territory and within 30 minutes of the Houston County office. Class A CDL is required or must be obtained within six months of hire. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
