Well it is a very quiet and still morning here in our little valley, everything is covered with a very thick white blanket of snow. I really don’t ever remember this much snow at one time, here on our back porch we had 10 inches. It sure is pretty but I am ready for some sunshine and melting, this was a little too much. But the weather forecasters were telling us it was coming, we kept watching and it was looking like it was going to be all rain for us.
I got up early the morning before and watched the weather and they were still calling for snow. I was watching the cats and they kept coming back for more and more breakfast and they seemed restless, and the birds were everywhere. I thought well maybe I should pay attention to this so I started deciding what I needed to do. By now it was raining hard, so I made my list, I got ready and went to Jones Pharmacy and picked up Bob’s prescription, went and paid some bills, and went to the grocery store. I got all that taken care of and got home, and got the old wood heating stove to going good, went outside and got a box of kindling wood up, most of you know what that is, that is for your fire starting. Then I filled up my wood box and made sure the wood pile was covered back up really good. I gotall my laundry done and it was still raining and 40 degrees. I decided that I would cook a little extra just in case the power might go out, I even made a big pan of brownies. We went ahead and ate an early supper, so after I had got done all the things that I felt like was needed doing, the cats came up for an early supper. Now it was still raining and at 40 degrees, but they were still calling for snow and 4 to 6 inches of it. I thought well it will be okay. I am ready if it does. I had my quilt by my chair, a warm fire going, got up some extra water and I could heat it up on the old wood heating stove if I needed to.
When I went to bed it was still raining, but I got up at 5 a.m. and the ground was white, very big snow flakes were coming down. The cats were already at the door and hungry, so I got their breakfast first and then I got Bob’s (they always get fed first). Now for the rest of the story, our power did go out, it was off from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. When it came back on, we hurried and got some things done. We ate an early supper and while we enjoyed the warm fire we had brownies and hot coffee, we even went to bed early. But, I woke up at 2:30 a.m. and it was pitch dark, no lights anywhere. The power was out again, at 7:30 a.m., it came back on and it went off again at 12 noon and did not come back on until about 6 p.m. I know that was hard on a lot of people, but we were a little prepared and we made it just fine. It may happen again but if it does I will do the best I can.
I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because I know God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God Bless.
