Mrs. Alma Jean (Knight) Skelton of Hohenwald, passed from this life on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the Life Care Center of Centerville at the age of 78.

Alma Jean was born in Hickman County on April 3, 1943, to Edward Lloyd and Viola Minnie (Spiess) Knight. She met and married the love of her life, Jackie Lee Skelton, and they were married until his passing in 2014. She worked as an executive assistant at First Citizens Bank for many years. After her time at the bank came to a close, she got a job as an educational assistant at Lewis County Elementary School and touched many hearts while there. She loved and cared for every student she came in contact with.

Alma Jean was also an avid supporter of our men and women of the United States Armed Forces. She was very active with the installation of the Veterans Hall inside the War Memorial Building in Hohenwald.

However, her favorite title that she held would be that of "Mema" by her beloved grandkids. She was the most loving and devoted mother and grandmother that anyone could ever have.

She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Jean Peery (Greg) Edwards of Centerville, Christie Diane Peery (Kenneth) Kelsey of Hohenwald, Kimberly Jane (Todd) Freeman of Centerville, and Jennifer Viola (Glen) Tanner of Hohenwald. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great granddog.

Along with her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by one half brother, Lloyd Edward Skelton.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 2, in the McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald. Bill Webb and Terry Peery officiated. Burial followed in the Swiss Cemetery.
