The 5th Grade Lewis County Lady Panthers Tennessee Valley Basketball Association team traveled to Lawrenceburg on Saturday, January 15th for matchups against teams from Lincoln County and Loretto at David Crockett Elementary School.
The Lady Panthers faced Lincoln County in their first TVBA action of the year, and it was Lincoln County that took control of the game from the opening tip. Lincoln County shut out Lewis County in the first half and pulled out to a 22-0 lead at halftime. The Lady Panther defense improved in the second, holding Lincoln County to 12, but Lincoln County extended their lead to take a 34-4 win. Sloan Kelsey and Serena Finerty each had 2 points for the Lady Panthers.
In their second game of the day the Lady Panthers took on the team from Loretto. Loretto would begin to build a lead early in the first half and pulled out to a 16-2 lead at halftime. The second half was more of the same for the Lady Panthers as Loretto would again dominate the court and drop 20 points in the half while limiting Lewis County to one basket in the period. Lewis County would drop the second game of the day 36-4. SLoan Kelsey and Mikayla Pelto each had 2 points for the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Panthers finished the day 0-2 in TVBA action. Members of the 5th Grade Lady Panthers TVBA team are Elli Carroll, Serena Finerty, Lyric Inman, Sloan Kelsey, Mikayla Pelto, Reagan Riley, Mikayla Rowell, and Ce’Onna Russell.
