Accident on Allens Creek

Series: Car Accident | Story 36

ACCIDENT ON ALLENS CREEK MONDAY - Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Philip Long and accident victim Steve Jones watch as Taylor's Wrecker Service owner Chuck Taylor backs up to begin recovering Jones' Ford F-150 from the shoulder after an accident Monday afternoon, February 7. The 911 office dispatched Lewis County Sheriff Department, Lewis County Fire and Rescue and Maury Regional EMS personnel to the 3:20 p.m. crash as the vehicle was teetering over the shoulder and a 20 foot drop. Afraid to exit the vehicle due to its instability, Trooper Long said that Jones waited for help to arrive. Once on the scene, sheriff deputies put pressure on the hood of the truck while fire personnel helped Jones get to safety. Jones said he had some minor pain in his back. Jones was on his way home travelling south on Allens Creek when a deer crossed his path. Jones said he swerved left and his tires hit the soft wet shoulder making his vehicle go into the ditch line. When the truck hit the bank, the vehicle bounced back onto and across the roadway coming to rest half on and half off.
