The Lewis County Lady Panthers 5th grade girls TVBA team traveled to Wayne County High School for games against Lawrence County and Collinwood on Saturday, February 12th

In their first game of the day, the Lady Panthers took on the Larence County girls team. Lawrence County was aggressive on both ends of the floor as they limited the Lady Panthers to only 4 points, four free-throws, in the opening half of action and built up a large 26-4 lead as the game reached the halftime break.

After the break, Lawrence County’s defense continued to limit opportunities for the Lady Panthers, holding Lewis County scoreless the entire second half of play. Lawrence County cruised to a 40-4 win over the Lady Panthers.

Lewis County was led in scoring by Lyric Inman with 2 points, Sloan Kelsey added 1 point, and Serena Finerty added 1 point.

In their second game of the day Lewis County faced off against Collinwood. The game was an offensive struggle in the opening half as each time found points hard to come by. Collinwood held Lewis County to a lone Lyric Inman basket but was only able to put six on the board and held a 6-2 lead at halftime.

The Lady Panthers would battle back in the second half of action. Lyric Inman would score 6 of Lewis County’s 10 points in the second half, but Collinwood’s first half lead would prove to be enough to hang on for a 15-12 win over Lewis County.

Lyric Inman led Lewis County with 8 points, and Sloan Kelsey and McKayla Pelto each had 2 points in the loss.

The 5th Grade Lady Panthers finished the day 0-2 in TVBA play.
