The Lewis County Middle School Panthers travelled to Chapel Hill on Friday, March 11th for baseball action against the Forrest Rockets.

Maddox Tanner led off the game for Lewis County with a walk and stole two bases to move to third. With two outs in the inning, Tanner came across to score on a passed ball and the Panthers took an early 1-0 lead. Dakota Hull started the game on the mound for Lewis County and worked around a leadoff infield single to hold the Rockets scoreless. Lewis County would go down in order, all by strikeout, in the top of the second. The Panthers would run into trouble in the home second as the Rockets would get four straight baserunners aboard with a single, an error, and two walks. Forrest pushed across three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. With one out in the third Dakota Hull reached on an error and Braylon Bean was hit by a pitch, and Hull would come across to score on a passed ball to cut it to a 3-2 Rocket lead. Jalen Smith came on to relieve Hull to start the third inning and walked four straight before being replaced by Kegan Carroll-Clayton. Forrest picked up 3 more in the bottom of the third to pull out to a 6-2 lead. Jalen Smith drew a leadoff walk in the fourth, but three straight Panthers went down on strikes to end the inning.. Carroll-Clayton returned to the mound in the fourth and submitted a one-out triple that came in to score on an error to give Forrest a 7-2 lead. Tanner led off the fifth with a single and Hull was hit by a pitch, but it took a passed ball with two outs to bring a run in and the Panthers trailed 7-3. Carroll-Clayton worked around two walks in the fifth to hold the Rockets scoreless. Nate James singled with one down in the sixth and was followed by a Cayleb Moore walk ahead of a fly ball off the bat of Phenix McDonald that was misplayed, bringing in James to score to make it a 7-4 game. Forrest would add to their lead in the bottom of the sixth as the first four batters reached and 3 would come around to score in the inning to make it a 10-4 game. In their final at bat the Panthers went down in order and dropped the game 10-4 to Forrest.

Maddox Tanner had a hit and 2 runs for the Panthers, Nate James a hit and a run, and Dakota Hull a run scored. Hull went 2 innings on the mound, giving up 3 runs with 2 earned on 3 hits, striking out 1 and walking 2. Jalen Smith pitched to 4 batters, gave up 3 runs with 4 walks. Kegan Carroll-Clayton went 3 innings, gave up 4 runs on 1 hit, striking out 8 and walking 5. Kolt Skelton went 1 inning, walked 2 and struck out 2.
