Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley, the sky is blue and the sun is shining, it is so calm and peaceful. It was a little cool but I just had to take a few minutes to sit on the porch and enjoy everything that God was showing me. There was peace all around me, it seems the trees, the grass and every bush now has a little green to it, the birds were singing and I could hear the doves calling each other and across the driveway there were three deer. Then I looked down and saw that the cats were sitting there in the sunshine and looking at me like “What is going on? Lets eat!”
Bob has gotten the breakfast dishes washed and the kitchen cleaned up. Now for dinner I think I am going to put on to cook a pot of cabbage and a pot of pinto beans and a big pan of cornbread and with some sweet tea we are going to have a good dinner.
I just put a load of clothes into wash and with the sun shining and warming everything up, when the clothes are done washing I am going to hang them out on the clothesline.
We had an old tree stump out by the clothesline and it was kind of in the way, so I called the neighbors and later that afternoon I heard their trucks out there and then I heard their chainsaws start up. I looked out and there was Hunter, Kaleb and Blaine and in no time at all that old stump was gone and even the hole where it had been got filled in like the stump was never there, thanks guys.
There is still so much trouble going on all around us. So much trouble that I don’t like to watch the news anymore but sometimes we have to. My heart goes out to those people in Ukraine and all the other people that are being attacked and have their very freedoms in danger. So we need to keep praying.
The cost of living is getting higher, the gas prices have recently gone down a little because we are using our emergency reserves. Gas is still a lot higher than it was just a couple of years ago, but the price of everything else seems to be going higher and the size of the things you buy are getting smaller. But I was thinking I am so used to having what I need and whatever that I want to eat and then I thought that there are people in our world that do not have hardly anything and they are wishing for something to eat. I read the article in last week’s Lewis County Herald about food waste and being wasteful and it made me think of how many of us could do a little better and be a little more careful with what we have. Thinking about my list of what I can do to be more careful and be less wasteful and spend my money more carefully and make less needless trips and not waste in a lot of other small ways, it has made my list now a little longer and I know I can do better.
I have finished my coffee and I have fed the cats and my kitchen is clean and the washing machine just cut off so I will get my clothes on the line to dry and then get my dinner started. It is going to be a good day.
I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time because God has it all under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.
God Bless
