2022 Candidate List

State/Federal Primary, County General Election

This year’s election will be one of the more exciting elections as our County Commission will go from 18 representatives to 9. Lewis County has been moved to a new House of Representatives District, the 28th Senatorial District has changed and Lewis County, alongside Perry and Hickman, will create a Judicial District of their own, leaving Williamson County behind.

Tennessee House of Representatives 69th District

Lewis County was previously a part of the 71st Tennessee House of Representatives District which was represented by David Byrd. District 71 consisted of Lewis County, Wayne, Hardin and part of Lawrence County.

In order to accommodate the recent population boom in Middle Tennessee, Lewis County has now been moved into the 69th District which includes Hickman and parts of Dickson County.

This seat is currently held by Republican Representative Michael G. Curcio, who is not running for re-election.

The candidates are as follows: Jody Barrett (R), Jeff Eby (R), Brian Johnson (R), Angela Marie Redden (R), Candie Loreeta Hedge (D) and Val Sloan (D).

28th Senatorial District State Executive Committeeman and Committeewoman

The 28th Senatorial District used to consist of Lewis, Perry, Maury, Giles, Lawrence and Wayne Counties. The redistricting has changed the 28th District to Lewis, Maury, Giles and now Marshall Counties.

Senator Joey Hensley is not up for election this year, but the State Executive Committeeman and Committeewoman are. These seats are currently held by Jim Looney (R), who is not running for re-election and Angie McClanahan (R), who is running for re-election.

Other candidates for State Executive Committeewoman are Julie Quan (R) and Vicki S. Hale (D).

This year’s candidates for Committeeman are David Cruz (R), Seth James Campbell (D) and Gregory D. Hanners (D).

32nd Judicial District Circuit Court Judge, District Attorney, and Public Defender

Lewis County’s Judicial District for Circuit Court Judge, District Attorney and Public Defender used to be in the 21st District which included Williamson, Perry, and Hickman Counties.

After a push made by Circuit Court Judge Michael E. Spitzer, Lewis, Perry and Hickman Counties have now become a district of their own: the 32nd District. This change was made due to the population growth of Williamson County which grew to over 226,250 while Hickman, Lewis and Perry Counties have a population of approximately 45,213 combined.

So this year’s election will be the first election held for the new district. Those who are running are as follows: Mike Spitzer (R) for Circuit Court Judge, Hans L. Schwendimann (R) for District Attorney General and Melanie Totty Cagle (R) for Public Defender.
