The Lewis County Quarterly Court passed a resolution prohibiting the use of the Courthouse grounds for tent shows of any kind or character. The Sheriff was ordered to enforce the provisions of this resolution. J.C. Bisbee had announced in the previous week’s newspaper (April 10) that Bisbee’s Comedians would pitch a tent on the courthouse.

The Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company announced that the charge for local calls from public telephones would be increased to 10 cents and that users would be allowed to deposit one dime or two nickels.
