One Day At A Time

Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley. The sunrise was unusually pretty this morning, a light breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, the neighbor’s cows are grazing in the pasture across the driveway and there are three baby calves laying contently in the sun. The cats were waiting for breakfast when I went out, but they had just gotten up and were still stretching and yawning, so I got them fed and then I was able to get back to my coffee.

I hope everybody had a good Easter. It is hard to believe how fast this year is going by. Here it is already the last part of April, time seems to be flying by.

It is going to be a beautiful day, a little cool this morning, but it is going to warm up this afternoon and I think later in the week it is supposed to reach 80 degrees, I am okay with that.

We have been doing some more cleaning up outside, with all the wind and rain, our yard has been a mess. The days are getting longer and with more daylight we have been able to get more done outsid. Of course with me nearing 80 years old I can’t move as fast as I used to but I can still get a lot done and Bob and Bobby do help me a lot.

I am still looking forward to filling up all these empty canning jars this summer. A lot of people are putting out gardens this year and some of the gardeners that I have talked to are also going to can and put things up for the winter.

I am hearing more and more about the cost of living going up. It may be a little harder on all of us but if we all can be a little more careful I think we can make it. We were out the other day having to run errands and I noticed there were lots of traffic and it doesn’t seem like the gas prices going up has slowed anyone down. I was in the grocery store and people were still quickly shopping but I noticed one older couple and they had their grocery list and they were carefully looking and comparing prices and I thought they are smart shoppers and I wish more people shopped carefully like them. Later we were both waiting to check out at the same time and we talked and we had the best little visit. Now I have some new friends that shop a lot like I do, and guess what, they read my little story every week in the Lewis County Herald, they don’t live in Lewis County but were here in Hohenwald shopping.

I have finished my coffee and Bob’s got the dishes washed and the cats have finished their breakfast and have snuggled back down for a nap. I have got a busy day ahead and I am going to enjoy this day that God has made. I am not going to worry about tomorrow and I am going to take one day at a time. God still has everything under control and He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

God Bless
