Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
September 9, 1948 ~ April 16, 2022
On the morning of April 16, 2022, James Henry Bogart unexpectedly passed away at his Hohenwald home at the age of 73. Mr. Bogart was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on September 9, 1948, to the late Christopher S. and Elizabeth M. Engelbrecht Bogart.
He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. After separating from the Army, James earned a degree in Data Processing and went on to be the director of IT in a New Jersey firm. At one point he was the Senior Commander of the Royal Rangers program and dedicated his time to the future ministry of young men, preparing them for life after graduation.
He and his family left New Jersey and headed to the south with his company, resettling in Tennessee. After retiring and some traveling out of state, they wanted to be closer to family and have called Hohenwald home ever since. In his quiet time, he was often found woodworking, fishing, or producing beautiful handmade knives.
Mr. Bogart leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Janice Heloise Schaefer Bogart; his loving children, Trevor (Genet) Bogart and Phaedra (Lee) O' Neill; grandchildren, Malaika Mosele, Gabriel Bogart, Christopher Gallagher, and Myleigh, Olivia, and Aidah O'Neill. He also will be remembered by his brothers Christopher, George, Kenneth, and Robert Bogart, and his sister Betty Bogart.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Steven Bogart.
A private family burial will take place at a later date and time. Adair Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
