Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898

Gary William Warnock

February 29, 1948 - May 2, 2022

Gary William Warnock departed from this world May 2, 2022 surrounded by his family. He suffered from complications of Covid-19. He was 74 years of age, unless you count birthdays, in which he would eagerly tell you he was only 18. He was born February 29, 1948 to Roy S. Warnock and Virginia G. McBride of Newcastle, Pennsylvania.

As a child he enjoyed playing with his siblings, riding his bike, playing bugle for his Boy Scout troop, and his pony. During his teenage years he played clarinet for the school band. He graduated in 1966 from New Castle Senior High School and went on to attend the University of Memphis.

In November of 1988 he finally found Lois Marie Hassell who he would devote the rest of his life to, and they were married until her death in 2017.

Before he retired, he worked with metal studs and specialized in lead lined sheetrock utilized in the building of hospitals. In his later years he enjoyed attending Lomax Church of Christ, watching Tennessee Titans play football, listening to music and watching his granddaughter learn to swim.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his parents Roy and Virginia, and brother Bobby.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Rebecca Bobo, James Roberts, and Thomas (Sarah) McMillian; grandchildren, Christopher Arnold, Brittney McMillian, Virginia Treadwell, Jami Roberts, Alli Roberts, Thomas J. McMillian, John McMillian, Zane Simmons and Sophia McMillian; four great-grandchildren; his son, Christopher Walker; and his sisters, Janice Sherbak, and Loretta McAllister.

He was placed in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville, on Monday May 9, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or Vanderbilt University Medical Center in his name.
