Cole Bates

Steven Cole Bates left this earthly world on the exact day he entered it 21 years ago on May 10th. Cole was born in Maury County to Steven Brandon and Kasey Lane Bates.

Cole was very much a family guy and loved spending time with them any time he could. Many of his friends were considered more than that in his book, they were also his family. With his heart of gold, he was always there when someone needed him. Always smiling, never complaining, and there to encourage everyone to never give up. He never saw anything but the best in those he cared about and even those he didn't know well. His optimistic attitude and infectious smile were sure to brighten your day. He enjoyed being outdoors floating the river, kayaking, playing tennis, or just singing and enjoying family time. Cole was very big into the virtual gaming world. Even with all the hobbies and activities, nothing seemed more important than his love for the Lord. He was a child of God and never wavered his faith. He was a good kid that loved big.

Along with his parents, Cole leaves behind to cherish his memory his grandparents, Jeff and Donna Turner, Patty and Michael Banks; sisters, Keyaira Witherington and Kabryanna Bates; his brother, Caleb Carroll; and great-grandparents, Peggy Sims, Donnie Barber and Tiny Barber. He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, Katrina (Jay) Anthony, Shandra (Jason) Brown, and Jason (Amanda) Bates III and a host of cousins, family, and friends.

Cole was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jason Clifford Bates II and Gary Harlow; grandmother, Maye Barber; great-grandmother, Elise Dunn; and great-grandfather, Pete Sims.

Visitation with family and friends was Sunday May 15, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Blondy Church of God. Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. with Bro. Jeff Gandy officiating and burial followed at Hinestown Cemetery.
