Summerfest was a success

The first annual Summerfest was a success that left this year's vendors excited to come back next year, said event organizer and Chamber member Mike Ricketts.

If you were redirected from downtown Hohenwald on Saturday, it was due to Summerfest! Arts and craft vendors lined the street with food trucks, a kid zone and a music stage that resembled Oktoberfest.

Ricketts said they had a great turnout with a steady crowd. He estimated that anywhere from 500 to 1,000 people showed up for the event throughout the day.

Summerfest was put on by the Chamber of Commerce with the help of Citizens Bank, Highland Corporation, the Hohenwald Police Department and Oliver Technologies.

Just two days before Summerfest, Ricketts said he and Chamber of Commerce Director Debbie Landers found out their planned stage wasn't going to work out. Lucky for them, living in Hohenwald means there's always someone willing to help! Ryan Skelton with Oliver Technologies came to the rescue with one of their trailers for the stage. Skelton and his wife Lauren, along with Ricketts and Landers, were up bright and early at 5:00 Saturday morning setting up the trailer and stage area.

With the support of the community behind them, Ricketts says the Chamber is looking forward to the second annual Summerfest!
