James Franklin Reed left this earthly world on June 13, 2022, at the age of 78. James was born on May 29, 1944, to Paul and Blanche Stockard Reed in Hohenwald.
James always enjoyed being outdoors, from hunting to fishing, and yes even sometimes napping. He was known for his ability as a small repair mechanic and fixing lawn mowers. His biggest hobby was being the manager of the local Horse Stop feed store alongside brother Rex.
Anyone that knew him knew he truly had a heart of gold. He always made sure to donate to a charity that was near and dear to his heart, St. Jude's Network. He made many contributions throughout his lifetime to ensure the children and families were taken care of.
Mr. Reed is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Toby) Adkins and Denise (Will) Christian; his sister, Shelbie Skelton; and brother, Rex Reed. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Jacob (Holly) Adkins, Matthew Adkins, Britney (Nathan) Odom, Rebecca Brackeen, Megan Brackeen, Nastasha Christian, William Christian IV, Daniel (Corrie) Adkins, and Robyn (Lee) Durham; great-grandchildren, Magnolia Pearl Adkins, Baby Odom and seven more great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Glynda McDaniel.
He was preceded in death by his son, Andy Reed, and brothers, Huey Reed and David Reed.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, in the chapel of Adair Funeral and Cremation Services with burial following at Napier Cemetery. Brothers Rex Reed and Jerry McDonald officiated.
