Austin Carroll announces bid for re-election to Commission

Hello Friends and Neighbors,

I'm Austin Carroll and I'm running for County Commissioner for the 5 th District. It has been an honor to serve the people of Lewis County as your 5 th District Commission for almost four years.

I have seen a lot of needs in Lewis County and I have been working with my colleagues on the Commission to address them. I serve on the Budget Committee with Mayor Keltner, Pat Halfacre, Robert Brewer, Ronnie Brewer, Timmie Hinson, and Aren Ragsdale. We, along with the other Commissioners, have worked hard to achieve a balanced budget of approximately 7 million dollars. Approximately eight years ago, the County was broke. Lewis County is now in good financial shape. We have also secured several Federal and State grants to pay for County improvements that your local tax dollars would have paid otherwise.

I'm a conservative Christian and native of Lewis County and a graduate of Lewis County High

School. I worked the truck docks in Nashville while attending Middle Tennessee State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973. In 1983, while working full time as a District Engineer for Tennessee Valley Authority, I earned a Master of Business Administration from Austin Peay State University. In 1986 I was hired as the General Manager of the Hopkinsville, Kentucky Electric System. I have more than 30 years of CEO experience in successfully managing this municipal electric company and internet business for Hopkinsville, Kentucky which serves more than 30,000 residences and commercial customers with annual revenues of more than $36 million. In 1999, we launched EnergyNet, the municipal internet business that we needed to serve all of our customers, when private providers were unwilling to offer broadband service to Hopkinsville. When I retired, we were not only serving our county, but two other neighboring counties and were known as the "best in the business" for service and reliability. In 2015, my wife and I moved with our alpacas, dogs and cats from Kentucky back to my family's 1899 homeplace on the Buffalo River near Napier.

I have voluntarily served on many local, state, regional and national boards and commissions, and several as chair person. Today, I am proud to serve Lewis County as a County Commissioner for my home district. I would like to continue serving you and I'm asking you to vote for AUSTIN CARROLL in the 2022 election (August 4, 2022).
