Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Family and friends gathered for a bridge dedication ceremony for the crossing that now bears Ronnie James' name on Tuesday, August 23 on Slippery Creek Road. The ceremony was led by Mike Hinson, General Sessions Court Judge, followed by kind words and memories from County Commissioner Timmie Hinson, family friend Tony Campbell, City Mayor Danny McKnight, cousin Darrell James, veteran Tommy Carroll, and sister Sandra James.
Ronnie was a dedicated member of the Slippery Church of Christ which made it very fitting to honor his memory, with the bridge, at that location.
Ronnie was an elected Lewis County Commissioner for over 30 years. Once that concluded, he became a member of the Lewis County Election Commission from 2003-2017. He was also a member of the Housing Authority Board, the State Forestry Committee, the Railroad Authority, and several other boards and organizations.
Ronnie was a member of the United States Army and served as a combat engineer in Vietnam. Once he got out of the service, he was a proud and dedicated member of the VFW. He never missed paying his respects at a Lewis County Veteran's funeral.
Ronnie was very involved with his community and never refused to lend a helping hand to those in need.
